By October 2009, the recession was gaining momentum across the globe and locally things were not going that lekker either.  Award-winning copywriter and popular journalist Linette Retief came up close and personal with this unfortunate reality, decided to go into debt review and then started writing about her experience.

In putting pen to paper (or rather, fingers to laptop keyboard), she tackled a potentially negative, often traumatic experience in a sensible, humorous and compassionate way – first in a column in Beeld newspaper and then in her best-selling book, Een glasdooswit asseblief – Sober besinnings van ‘n skuldenaar (One glass of box white (wine), please – Sober reflections of a debtor).
