RECESSIONISTA

By October 2009, the recession was gaining momentum across the globe and locally things were not going that lekker either.  Award-winning copywriter and popular journalist Linette Retief came up close and personal with this unfortunate reality, decided to go into debt review and then started writing about her experience.​

In putting pen to paper (or rather, fingers to laptop keyboard), she tackled a potentially negative, often traumatic experience in a sensible, humorous and compassionate way – first in a column in Beeld newspaper and then in her best-selling book, Een glasdooswit asseblief – Sober besinnings van ‘n skuldenaar (One glass of box white (wine), please – Sober reflections of a debtor).
